Make your mark by shaping the future to enable or deliver life-changing science to solve some of humanity’s greatest challenges.A fixed term opportunity to cover maternity leave has arisen in our Equality Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Team for a Equality Diversity and Inclusion Manager.The duration of the role will be 12 months.About the Role:You will support the delivery of our EDI action plans and work towards continually progressing the organisation further forward with its EDI agenda.Project manage the organisation’s equality charter-marks and develop strong working relationships with key stakeholders across the organisation to help catalyse change and embed good practice approaches.Manage own activities, involving small scale project management, and co-ordination of multiple aspects of work to meet deadlines, including co-ordination and administration of work.You will be responsible for:Delivery of Athena Swan Charter Mark: Lead the planning and delivery of the 2025 Athena SWAN submission. Including Chairing the Athena SWAN working group, project managing the submission process, implementation of surveys, analysis of equality data, and identifying trends for the action plan.Stakeholder Engagement: Develop robust working relationships with key stakeholders across the organisation to facilitate change and promote best practices. Engage with key staff members to gather input, address concerns, and ensure widespread buy-in and participation.Data Analysis and Reporting: Lead the planning and execution of surveys, focus groups, and other relevant data-gathering resources to identify insights and trends. Apply quantitative and qualitative analysis techniques to interpret data effectively, providing evidence-based recommendations. Support the production of EDI data reports and support the implementation of actions outlined in the EDI, Race Equity and Athena SWAN action plans.Project Management and Administration: Manage individual activities, employing effective project management techniques. Coordinate multiple aspects of work to meet deadlines, ensuring efficient administration and coordination.Communication: Help to produce a range of written materials to promote EDI activities and projects across different communication channels, including the internal and external website, social media channels, and Campus-wide emails.EDI Advocacy and Policy: Provide support to the wider organisation on matters of EDI, including participation in steering or working groups. Contribute to the development and implementation of new EDI policies and processes.Essential Skills:Knowledge and experience of preparing and progressing EDI-related charter-marks, such as Athena SWAN, Stonewall, Race at Work (or Race Equality Charter) and Disability ConfidentAbility to liaise with a wide range of people and build effective working relationships quicklyStrong analytical and research skills with the ability to evaluate qualitative and quantitative information in order to present clear and convincing findings, recommendations and proposalsGood organisational and administrative skills and the ability to manage a complex portfolio of projects simultaneously. Flexible approach – able to respond to changes in workload at short noticeThe ability to take ownership of objectives and drive them forwardTeam working skills, and an ability to deliver project outcomesAble to maintain confidentiality and discretion at all timesCreative thinker, with initiative to take forward ideas within scope, take personal responsibility for action and ability to work independentlyStrong communication skills both oral and writtenConfident IT user: proficiency in Office software (particularly Excel and PowerPoint) and ability to learn how to maintain intranet pagesAbout Us:The Wellcome Sanger Institute is one of the leading centres of genomic discovery and understanding.
