JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE:
This position, in the Operational Models & Support group within Operational Readiness, performs and analyzes operational studies, both steady-state and dynamic. This includes updating real-time contingency analysis models, updating operational planning models, coordinating model updates with internal and external stakeholders, forecasting loads, and updating operating guides and procedures.
JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
-Perform updates to operational planning models, real-time contingency analysis models, and real-time dynamic stability models of the transmission system.
-Develop and maintain all real-time advanced applications and processes.
-Perform steady-state load flow and dynamic stability studies in both the Real-Time and Operational Planning horizon. Familiarity with the PSE/E software package and other state of the art load flow and stability packages, such as Power World, RTNET, RTCA, VSAT, and TSAT is essential
-Provide technical support to the Transmission Control Center (TCC) through the preparation of real time advanced applications and support of real-time processes.
-Interface with MISO RTO personnel and other Entergy modeling workgroups to ensure the development and coordination of required operational models and real-time tools to support reliable bulk electric system operations. Ensures real-time modeling information is submitted and updated in a timely and accurate manner.
-Represent Entergy on industry wide technical working groups to both advocate for positions favorable to Entergy and ensure industry best practices are understood. Industry forums/organizations include but are not limited to NERC, SERC, MISO and NATF.
-Assist with storm/emergency restoration efforts as necessary.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum Education:
-Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering Discipline (typically Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Chemical, Computer, and Industrial) from a four-year accredited institution
-Degree in Engineering Technology (typically, Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Chemical, and Industrial) from four-year accredited institution, with PE may be considered
-Preferred:

-BS Electrical Engineering Degree with emphasis on power systems
Minimum Experience:
-Engineer I: 0 – 2 years of applicable and progressive experience
-Engineer II: at least 2 – 4 years of applicable and progressive experience
-Engineer III: at least 4 – 6 years of applicable and progressive experience
-Sr Engineer: at least 6 years of applicable and progressive experience
-Preferred:

-At least 5 years of experience in modeling, system analysis and planning of power systems
-Experience in a power utility or a consulting company
Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
-Demonstrated ability engineering principles
-Thorough understanding of procedures, programs, and standards in responsible area
-Consistently demonstrates good engineering judgment
-Good leadership skills
-Good interpersonal skills along with strong written and oral communication skills
-Excellent math skills
-Excellent project management skills
-Good knowledge of Personal Computer operations and related software
-Ability to manage multiple activities and changing priorities
-Ability to work well under pressure
-Required to work safely and follow all Entergy safety policies and procedures
-Ability to recognize hazards in the workplace and have the ability to mitigate the hazards
-Demonstrated acceptance of a diverse and inclusive work environment and customer base
-Ability to recognize opportunities for process improvement and have the ability to enact change
-Preferred:
