Role & Team Overview
FID is looking for an experienced expert to run FID BCU (Business Unit Control) for Continental Europe. The role is based in Paris.
The Business Control Unit (BCU) within the Fixed Income Division (FID) is the function that manages non-trading risk, including the Division’s non-financial risk (NFR). These NFRs include, but are not limited to, operational risk, compliance/conduct, regulatory & audit, sales/product governance, transactional risk. The BCU’s purpose is to engage in the identification, assessment, monitoring, reporting, and mitigation of such risks consistent with Firm guidelines with respect to the legal entities and jurisdictions in which FID operates. The role is expected to provide advice, decision-making and action with respect to certain transactions and other matters that have a relevant FID risk element. As a front office risk management team, FID BCU partners with our FID business stakeholders, the ISG Central Risk Team, as well as the infrastructure groups and second line control functions to establish and maintain an effective risk management program that is appropriately tailored to FID’s risk profile. The team has a global presence including in New York, London, Hong Kong, and Tokyo.

Qualifications
What will you be doing?
- The focus is on FID NFR in Europe, particularly Paris FID sales and trading activities and European regulatory compliance.
- Work with the global FID BCU team to identify risks, define controls, implement key non-financial risk metrics and assessing the effectiveness of the control environment.
- Act as the primary interface with key members of FID Management in Europe and provide regular updates on the status of risk and controls.
- Analyze a process and recommend ways to improve quality, controls, and efficiency.
- Work with FID desk managers to resolve risk issues.
- Deliver and monitor of key risk/management indicators and produce management reporting.
- Provide expert support and advice to business units on risk identification and issue management.
- Lead issue-specific cross-functional teams to ensure successful completion and to evidence same.

Qualifications required
- Extensive experience in the financial industry either in a business unit (sales, trading, etc.) or 2nd Line legal, regulatory, compliance or other risk management functions. This may include experience in a business unit (e.g. COO, trader, etc.).
- Previous Fixed Income experience a strong plus.
- Previous experience operating at director or executive director (as defined by MS) level.
- Bachelor’s degree required.
