The Unified Administrative Services (UAS) provides core administrative services to the University. The scope of the work carried out by UAS teams and sections is wide-ranging and essential to the smooth running of the University. The UAS is a body under the supervision of the University Council and is led by the Registrary as the University’s Principal Administrative Officer.

The UAS have an exciting opportunity for a Finance Coordinator to join the UAS Finance Team. This opportunity will require you to work across the UAS departments alongside other finance and non-finance professionals supporting the financial operations of each area. You will work flexibly and can be deployed to any department across the UAS at short notice, to provide support and assistance as operational priorities demand.

The Role 

You will provide direct accounting support to departments, including:

  • Monitoring and reporting of the financial position of the department and its activities.
  • Undertake month end and year end procedures for the department concerned.
  • Develop processes to ensure best practice is maintained and records are kept in accordance with the financial regulations.
  • Preparing budgetary information, producing monthly department management reports, liaise with Head of Department / Departmental Administrator to review the financial position.

Your Skills

  • You will be qualified or studying towards the AAT level 4 Professional Diploma.
  • Have experience of working in a busy finance or administrative function within a large organisation.
  • Highly numerate and have good oral and written communication skills.
  • Highly skilled in processing accounting transactions and be able to prioritise your own workload.

Location

The role will be based at Greenwich House, Madingley Rise, Cambridge. The expectation is that you will be working across the UAS Departments primarily based at the Old Schools, city centre locations and across town.

The University is supportive of hybrid working, where some work is undertaken on University premises and some in a remote working environment. The aim of our approach is to enable as many staff as possible to work in a hybrid way if they wish and where their role allows. This arrangement is subject to change and will not form a part of the contractual terms of the role.

Funding for this post is on a permanent basis.
