French Finance Reporter
Paris
Posted Jul 12, 2024 – Requisition No. 126439
Bloomberg News is looking for a finance reporter in Paris to cover BNP Paribas, Societe Generale and the French financial services industry more broadly. The job offers a unique opportunity to become the face of a crucial beat for one of the world’s leading news organizations. You’ll be spearheading the coverage of some of Europe’s biggest banks, making your stories essential reading for our audience.
We’re looking for a reporter who will be first to know what’s going on inside the boardrooms of French banking and beyond. We want a self-starter who understands our readers and can break news on everything from CEO changes to trading performance and job cuts. The ideal candidate can pivot from on-the-day news to bigger pieces and has the ability to juggle multiple stories and responsibilities at the same time.
You should have a track record of developing senior sources, breaking high-impact news and writing longer-form enterprise pieces. Experience covering finance and French-language skills are a plus, and so is experience doing TV hits or video clips for social media to ensure your reporting gets multiplied across all our many formats.
The ability to leverage Bloomberg’s global newsroom by cooperating across teams and time zones is a vital aspect of the role.
We’ll trust you to:
-
Constantly develop sourcing at the highest levels of finance in order to break the biggest news in the industry;
-
Produce quick-fire stories as well as long-term enterprise that inform our readers;
-
Willingness to explore original ways to tell our biggest stories;
-
Take the initiative and drive our coverage of French finance forward.
You’ll need to have:
-
Minimum of three years reporting and experience of finance and breaking news;
-
A proven ability to build boardroom-level sourcing;
-
Sound news judgement and a talent for looking beyond the obvious story;
-
A willingness to work well within a team and with others across the newsroom.
Apply if you think we’re a good match. We’ll get in touch to let you know that the next steps are, but in the meantime feel free to have a look at:
