Offer DescriptionCEMFI invites applications for a 1-year full-time Research Assistant position (Pre-doc). Candidates should have a strong interest in research in macroeconomics. You will work under the supervision of Professor Sebastián Fanelli in collaboration with Professor Kurt Mitman on two research projects. The work will relate to a variety of topics at the intersection of international macroeconomics, portfolio choice, and heterogeneous-agent macroeconomics. You will use a combination of statistical analysis and structural modeling to help contribute to the projects. The projects are funded by grant RYC2021-03498-I, financed by the MCIN/AEI /10.13039/501100011033and the European Union NextGenerationEU/PRTRI, and UE /Grant PID2023-153327NB-I00 funded by MICIU/AEI /10.13039/501100011033 and by ERDF, UE, whose Principal Investigators are Professors Sebastián Fanelli and Kurt Mitman.Research Assistant Tasks:

  • Obtaining and preparing datasets.
  • Conducting statistical and econometric analysis.
  • Preparing literature reviews.
  • Numerical simulations of structural models (calibration and estimation).
  • Assist the PIs in other aspects of the project.

Desired Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s in economics, math, stats, or a related quantitative field.
  • Excellent knowledge of MATLAB and statistical software (Stata, R or Python)
  • Proven organizational ability and attention to detail.
  • Proficient in English. Knowledge of Spanish is not required.
  • Strong interest in academic research.
  • Previous experience as a research assistant will be valued.
  • Able to legally work in the European Union

Job conditions:

  • Full-time position.
  • The job will be based at CEMFI facilities in Madrid.
  • Salary: Between 25000€/year and 30000€/year gross remuneration.
  • Duration: 1 year.
