“Head of A&H Medi Cluster”About the roleThe Head of Accident and Health (A&H) for the Medi Cluster (Italy, Greece and Cyprus) will develop and execute the product line strategy in accordance with the International product strategy, underwriting framework and pricing guardrails. This role will have accountability for talent management and overall responsibility for Iberia’s Product P&L.In this role, you will be responsible for the leadership and management of all aspects of AIG’s Medi Accident and Health business with accountability for go-to-market effectiveness and efficiency, product, underwriting and risk control, and implementation of best practices. With a strong focus on profitable growth, you will drive strategies as a partner and thought leader, in collaboration with distribution, claims, pricing, portfolio management, operations and other cross-functional teams. Delivering sustainable bottom line results while continuing to innovate from both product and underwriting standpoint will define your success in this exciting role.Key AccountabilitiesLead the Medi A&H business to deliver planned operating and financial results:
- Drive the development and execution of growth and profitability strategies for the A&H Business.
- Responsible for the achievement of financial targets for revenue, profit and growth: NPW growth, Combined Ratio, loss Ratio, Acquisition ratio, and GOE; Underwriting Profit, New business, and persistency
- Lead channel, product and market expansion
- Recruit and develop A&H country resources and functional leads
- Ensure regulatory and legal compliance across the A&H operation
Move the organization forward via direct and functional reports:
- Establish and leverage strong relationships with Regional and Country leadership
- Collaborate with technical and functional departments across the wider business
- Provide oversight for large projects and initiatives related to A&H
- Work with HR to develop top distribution, DDM, product, underwriting and functional talent
- Drive a culture that promotes results, collaboration, diversity and inclusion
- Coordinate with the regional/country actuaries to assure timely rate reviews, ongoing pricing and segmentation initiatives
Execute A&H plans and strategies across local markets:
- Develop major distribution partnerships with digital and traditional players
- Expand and manage both analogue and digital channels
- Broaden A&H customer base to target SMEs and key individual demographics
- Drive product pipeline with supplemental health, micro, hybrid and embedded products
- Work with functions and to build and deploy customer-centric propositions across marketing, sales, claim, payments service
- Lead the A&H product development process to stay ahead of the market
- Manage all distribution channels to assure maximum penetration of target segments
- Develop new business opportunities through the identification of alternative distribution channels
- Seek opportunities to improve synergies and cross sell activities between products, distribution channels and companies within the AIG Group
- Facilitate and promote all cross-selling and up-selling initiatives for the benefit of AIG and to meet customers’ total insurance needs
Drive profitable production growth with A&H country and functional leadership:
- Oversee DDM targets, activity, monitoring
- Manage group new and renewal pipeline
- Supervise production underwriting activity
- Work with Actuarial to lead portfolio and rate reviews
- Agree and monitor corrective action plans
Provide appropriate tools and infrastructure to govern business:
- Library of existing coverages and products
- Tools to model, execute and track DDM campaigns and spend
- Use of raters at regional and local level
- Actionable MI to support underwriting: exposure, retention, rates
- Pipeline, activity and workflow management
- Actuarial support and analysis to support portfolio reviews
- Underwriting authorities, audit schedules
What we are looking for
- Several years insurance leadership experience, including P&L responsibility
- Deep expertise in growing A&H business, with demonstrable business acumen/savvy. Additional expertise in the following areas a plus:
- Distribution background, especially multi-channel.
- Technical underwriting background
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
- Demonstrable knowledge of building go-to-market strategies and portfolio management
- Proven Strategic Leadership skills in developing vision and purpose, driving for results and leading effective teams
- Established strong relationships with customers, intermediaries, and regulators
- Demonstrated analytical and quantitative skills
- Influencing skills and proven ability to collaborate and work across multiple areas of the organization
