In an era of lifelong learning, CEAD’s diverse programme offers flexible, quality learning opportunities.The Head of CEAD will be an active member of the academic community of NCAD and will be an integral part of the academic management/leadership within the School of Education and wider College.They take a lead role developing the strategic direction and future growth of NCAD’s part-time flexible provision for those wishing to explore their creative potential and progress into higher education.Salary: €83,165 – 109,621 (i.e. NCAD’s Head of Department Salary Scale)Appointment will be made on the appropriate scale and in accordance with the Department of Finance guidelines.*New entrants to the Public Sector will be appointed at the first point of the scaleHours of Attendance: Weekly time commitment of 12 hours contact teaching time and 12xhours administration and 6 hours research.Annual Leave: Minimum 6 weeks annual leave.Location: This position is ordinarily based at the NCAD Campus, 100 Thomas Street, Dublin 8.PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES● To lead the development and delivery of part-time flexible courses as part of NCAD’s CEAD programmeDepartment.● Exercise leadership and be responsible for the academic development and quality of CEAD programmes.● Lead on programme management and administration including programme planning, quality assurance, budgetary control, programming of lecturers, management and direction of all staff (academic and technical) in this Department.● Working with colleagues in NCAD’s Admissions, plan and contribute to CEAD’s promotion and student recruitment process annually● Develop an annual operational plan for CEAD including planning of staffing and facilities● Contribute to lecturing and lead practical studies in this Department and elsewhere in the College.● Contribute to the School board and examination process. Represent the Department at all appropriate management fora.● Participate in student interviews, selection, assessments and examination procedures as required.● Engage in appropriate continuing professional development through research and other appropriate means.● Promote the Department, School and College by liaising and co-operating with other national and international institutions.● Collaborate with NCAD colleagues in arranging projects/programmes and compiling course documents.● Undertake any other appropriate duties as may be assigned by the appropriate officer from time to time.Selection CriteriaSelection criteria outline the qualifications, skills, knowledge and/or experience that the successful candidate would need to demonstrate for successful discharge of the responsibilities of the post. Applications will be assessed on the basis of how well candidates satisfy these criteria.Mandatory:● Recognisable profile within the field of Art or Design and Education .● Leadership and relevant management experience within education.● Minimum of 5 years’ experience in teaching, management or programming in an Art or Design discipline.● Experience of programme and module leadership, design, development and administration within a higher education environment.● Evidence of engagement in research, enterprise and/or professional practice.● Enthusiasm for working in an interdisciplinary context across college disciplines.● Evidence of commitment to continuing professional development including an interest in new pedagogical models and flexible learning● Leadership and relevant management experience.● Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.Desirable:● Post-graduate degree in this discipline or related discipline up to and including PhD, or demonstrable equivalent professional experience● Demonstrable understanding and engagement with the changing landscape within the higher education sector nationally and internationally.● Demonstrable record of developing and maintaining intercollegiate links.● Experience in working with diverse learners and maintaining an active interest inthe changing educational landscape.● Experience of developing and managing successful research funding applications and/or industry partnerships.Closing 6th of January 2025
