This is a fantastic opportunity to join the Council as our Head of Legal Services, to lead and develop our successful Legal Services Team.The successful candidate will maintain a culture of accountability, transparency, and empowerment, enabling the team to deliver high quality, outcome-focussed, risk based, and pragmatic advice, whilst bringing their own personality, creativity, and experience to the role.Working closely with the Director of Governance and Monitoring Officer, and the Head of Democratic Governance, as part of the Governance Department Senior Management Team you will help to deliver the Council’s priorities and provide technical expertise on complex and sensitive governance issues.Part of the role will be to act as Deputy Monitoring Officer for the Council, supporting the Monitoring Officer in the performance of their statutory functions.The successful candidate must have experience of leading multi-professional teams at a senior level, contributing legal advice and problem solving, and be adept at innovative thinking.If you are a qualified solicitor or barrister, have knowledge of working in local authority or a similar complex political organisation, and are looking for an exciting new challenge, we would welcome your application.This post is deemed as politically restricted.
