With our 170 years of expertise in microorganisms, Lesaffre RD&I has the capacity to identify, breed, collect, develop, and exploit strains with high potential, as well as to enrich the knowledge of their effects. on human, animal and plant health.The Center of excellence Analytical Sciences & Discovery mission is to determine and understand the molecular composition of matter to support research through the acquisition of safe, long-lasting physicochemical data to pave the way for innovations: molecules of interest, new processes and products.In order to strength the Center of Excellence Analytical Sciences and Discovery, we are looking for a Head of Operations Advanced Analytical Chemistry.As our Head of Operations Advanced Analytical Chemistry, you pilot the operation of the technical platform (15 people), in its human and technical dimensions. You have a global vision of the platform and its evolution. You ensure the optimal operation of our platform to answer our scientific issues.You will report directly to the Director of the Center of Excellence Analytical Sciences and Discovery.Main Missions:You lead the technical platform (mainly chromatography equipment) by:

  • Managing and animating the team
  • Assisting managers in the technician team development.
  • Adjusting resources availability to project needs by anticipating needs and organizing appropriate training.
  • Being responsible for excellence in execution and ensuring that the facility is providing the highest level of expertise and service to meet group and project challenges: protocol improvement, cost efficiency, analytical throughput improvement, data quality and management, use of electronic lab notebook, safe and optimal laboratory organization.
  • Being responsible for safety issues and ensuring high level of exigence in safety requirements.
  • Scouting new technologies and ensuring that the facility has access to state-of-the-art methodologies.
  • Proposing and driving internal competence projects.
  • Being Responsible for equipment park (maintenance) and its evolution (establish CAPEX according to strategic plan).

You may also be involved in cross-functional activities and in scientific projectsQualifications

  • PhD and solid experience (5-10 years) in analytical chemistry on complex matrices (natural product, fermentation products) and biochemistry (carbohydrates, proteins, lipides, fermentation metabolites).
  • Extensive knowledge in chromatography (liquid, gaz, ionic) is mandatory as well as in mass spectrometry
  • Experience in NMR and other spectroscopy will be a plus
  • Experience of team leadership, including motivation and federation of staff, performance management, employee development, delegation and prioritization.
  • Work in an interdisciplinary environment, in collaborative and agile mode.
