Job description

  • Designing qualitative and quantitative methodologies for unique projects with an emphasis on qualitative and socio-technical approaches, guiding the team on how to implement them.
  • Review and lead quality assurance of the Project team’s work, providing feedback and mentoring team members to assist in their development and reaching maximum quality,impact, and customer satisfaction.
  • Communicate with partners, clients and the Eticas team about your work and project developments, facilitate knowledge-sharing.
  • Perform analyses on a variety of data with an eye for innovation and dissemination. Help design and plan the impact actions that stem from our audits.
  • Present your work to consortiums, events, and other teams within Eticas or outside the organization.
  • Work in multiple projects with conflicting deadlines and multiple stakeholders while retaining scientific quality and respecting set deadlines and company & client standards.
  • Work with our Business Development team to identify project opportunities, develop proposals, and turn them into contracts.

  • Fluency in English
  • Research and/or consultancy experience at the PhD level (or equivalent years of experience) with a qualitative or sociotechnical focus in the fields of: ethics and technology, data protection, AI regulations & auditing, artificial intelligence, and data engineering.
  • Knowledge and understanding of European Commission projects (particularly the Horizon Europe program)
  • Team leadership experience
  • Experience conducting quality assurance and editing of reports, publications, and other written materials
  • You are highly analytical, have data-backed opinions, and are not afraid of research.
  • Being open and collaborative. Taking and giving constructive feedback and being always eager to share an idea or suggestion

And some nice-to-haves…

  • Experience conducting algorithmic audits or impact assessments, understand what algorithmic bias is and how to audit for fairness.
  • Experience in ethical & legal advisor roles and preparation of analytical and technical reports, research tasks, and data management plans.
  • Experience working in remote and cloud-based environments.
  • Occasional availability for travel
  • A proactive mindset to execute your own ideas without the need for large investments in validation.
  • Ability to establish relationships based on respect, trust and consistency.
  • A lifelong learning attitude
