Job Description:Salary: £32,490 – £36,870 per annumGrade DPermanent Contract37 Hours per WeekThe Health Improvement Practitioner will be part of the Thurrock Healthy Lifestyle Service (THLS), which supports those living and working in Thurrock to improve their health through programmes for stopping smoking, having a healthy weight, physical activity, and NHS Health Checks. The Stop Smoking Service provides a combined programme of behavioural and pharmacological advice and support to help smokers quit, in line with best practice guidelines. The post holder will be delivering stop smoking support in a variety of settings, and using behaviour change techniques to facilitate appropriate lifestyle advice to reduce risk. The Health Improvement Practitioner will engage with a range of voluntary, community and faith sector organisations, local businesses, and Health and Social Care professionals, as well as communities and localities, to identify groups and individuals who may benefit from stop smoking services but may not traditionally engage with our services.Key experience and skills required:
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience working in a health/health promotion or closely related field
- Communication and facilitation skills to support the assessment and monitoring of smoking behaviour change.
- Good interpersonal skills to enable interaction with clients with a range of emotional needs.
- Ability to work individually and as part of a specialist mixed team.
- Practical experience of prioritising, scheduling, and managing own caseload.
