Company:

Job description

is seeking exceptional researchers who hold a PhD (with no more than 8 years of full-time equivalent research experience) and are interested in pursuing a research project in the framework of the Marie Curie Postdoctoral Fellowships 2025.Research Group – ECIGALThe research group is currently using qualitative and participatory methodologies to investigate the opportunities available for youth to engage with global challenges, as well as the digital literacies necessary to facilitate this kind of participation. The group examines how youth become aware-or remain unaware-of global issues both within and beyond formal educational settings. Through collaborative participatory approaches, ECIGAL seeks to understand how young people relate these challenges to their own lived experiences and how they connect local realities with global events. Particular attention is given to the role of technology and social media. Depending on the development of critical thinking skills and informed usage strategies, these tools can either promote civic and political engagement or act as obstacles to it.Project overviewThe proposed MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowship may focus on three aspects: * Interviews with NGOs and other organizations that work with young people in addressing global issues.

  • Interviews with youth about their experiences and concerns concerning global issues.
  • Collaboration with young people to design and implement research to answer their own questions about how they and their peers contribute and may contribute to positive global changes, and to understand and potentially overcome specific challenges.

The group would be interested in candidates who could participate in this research trajectory (interviewing, accompanying and supporting youth research) as well as those who would be more interested in designing and implementing related projects in different national contexts, to foster cross-contextual and intercultural collaboration.Additional informationProficiency in Spanish or Portuguese is advantageous but not necessary, as the candidate may wish to use their linguistic strengths to carry out related research in other contexts.Additional strengths may include teaching experience in school or community contexts, experience working with young people as activists and/or researchers, or experience in fields related to global issues (environmental science, sociology of migration, alternative economies, critical media literacy…).Fellowship EnvironmentThe selected candidate will join a vibrant, international research group with access to state-of-the-art facilities at Universidade da Coruña. The fellow will also receive tailored support in preparing a competitive MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowship application from the Talent Recruitment Office at UDC.Expressions of interestPotential applicants must contact Dr. Renée DePalma ( ) as soon as possible. They should include in their email a CV and a brief motivation letter.Share this page
