The Opportunity

Academic Services provides unique, flexible support programing designed to help learners succeed in their chosen SAIT career program.
 
We are currently hiring casual instructors to teach Sociology courses in Spring/Summer 2024. The courses being offered are:
(1) SOCI 2010 – Intro to Psychology, and
(2) SOCI 2020 – Pop Culture.
 
The courses are scheduled to run as daytime offerings and will be scheduled Monday to Friday between 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. Because the courses are taught in person you must live within commuting distance of SAIT’s main campus in Calgary. Reporting to the Academic Chair, Communication and Liberal Arts Studies, you have a passion for teaching diverse students, thrive on sharing knowledge, and enjoy coaching students to succeed and think critically. You will be responsible for teaching using an experiential (task-based) learning lens.
The Role

    • Instruct Sociology course(s)
    • Prepare in-class and study materials for learners
    • Evaluate student progress and achievement providing timely, formative feedback
    • Provide ongoing support, guidance and advice to learners
    • Stay abreast of emerging pedagogical issues and educational technologies
    • Attend department meetings and SAIT’s instructor training program

Qualifications & Experience

    • Master’s degree or higher in Sociology
    • Minimum of 3 years’ post-secondary teaching experience in a relevant discipline
    • Graduate education and/or work experience in adult education would be an asset
    • Good computer skills and experience teaching technology-enhanced courses are required
