Job description

Due to an internal secondment, an opportunity has arisen to help King’s prepare for the next REF submission, and to lead the teams responsible for delivering REF, Research Impact and KEF.

The REF, KEF and Research Impact Director directly supports and works closely with the Vice-Principal (Research) and the post holder will be expected to participate in leadership discussions and initiatives across the university. The post holder will be a member of the Research Management and Innovation Executive. The post holder will work in close partnership with the faculty and Academic leads to ensure that the support needs to optimise King’s REF and KEF performance are met and will share with them a strong sense of accountability for King’s overall REF and KEF success.

  • Provide practical day-to-day leadership, organisation and direction for the university in the planning, oversight and management of the arrangements for REF and KEF.
  • Lead activity to measure, evaluate and enhance research performance across the university.
  • Provide strategic advice and support to the Vice-Principal (Research) and the Operations Director (Research & Researchers), Exec Deans and the wider King’s Senior Management Team to secure the best possible performance for King’s.
  • Provide expert advice, practical organisation and well-structured oversight, and appropriate challenge to academic and professional services leads in preparation for REF and KEF.
  • Lead the team responsible for the planning, capture and promulgation of research impact and work with colleagues across all areas to ensure that research impact delivery is aligned with the wider King’s impact objectives.
  • work closely with the REF Academic Planning Dean in planning and optimizing preparation for the next REF submission

This post will be offered on an a fixed-term secondment opportunity for 6 months

This is a full-time  post – 100% full time equivalent
