GC’s Corporate Services have an exciting new opportunity for a Junior Health & Safety Officer who will maintain a comprehensive Health and Safety Management System within the GC group. You will promote a positive Health and Safety culture, complete risk assessments and audit Health and Safety documentation within areas of the GC group.The Growth Company is an award-winning, accredited, social enterprise with a mission to enable growth, create jobs and improve lives. We deliver a range of services, working with customers and stakeholders to achieve our vision of a society where economic growth and prosperity is inclusive, sustainable and leaves no person or community behind.This permanent role is suitable for an individual who has recently qualified as a Health & Safety professional, i.e through NEBOSH general certification or a BSC. Full on the job training will be given. This will give you the experience to develop into a Health & Safety Officer.This role is 3-4 days per week Mon-Fri auditing sites and does require 1 day a month at Head Office, Lee House in Manchester.Key Responsibilities:

  • To complete premises inspections at GC sites and maintain Health and Safety Management Systems and audit scheme.
  • Maintain a schedule of monitoring visits to ensure ongoing compliance with current legislation and any contractual requirements, e.g. Fire/premises assessments, inspections etc.
  • Undertake investigations of accidents/incidents involving staff and clients.
  • To undertake condition assessments with employees and learners as required.
  • Undertake Statutory assessments when requested e.g. Workstation assessments, new or expectant mother assessments.
  • Disseminate and encourage the take up of good practice among staff / Operating Companies.
  • To undertake other duties as necessary and required by the Health & Safety Manager i.e. Systems for recording first aiders, fire wardens and other such tasks.
  • Any other duties as reasonably required by the Business / Line Manager.
  • Work as part of a team to find, offer, and provide solutions to issues raised that will ensure health and safety is maintained and complies with current H&S legislation.
  • All GC colleagues will work in line with the Health & Safety at work act and the GC Health & Safety Policy.

Skills Required:

  • Recently qualified NEBOSH General Certificate or BSc or evidence of similar competency.
  • Full valid driving licence.
  • A basic knowledge and understanding of H&S Regulations.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft word, excel.
