Would you like to be part of a strong creative community where we make a difference for and with the most vulnerable among us? Then become a volunteer knitter at Heidi & Bjarne in Vesterbro.The task:
Right now we are looking for knitters for our cozy team of volunteers. You can, for example, knit leftover sweaters, devil hats, vests, mittens, pants, mini-scarves and cardigans. Our patterns are developed by our volunteers, and we knit primarily in organic yarn. We are looking for experienced knitters, and you must be able to knit in stockinette stitch and follow a pattern. You agree on yarn, models, etc. with Ulla, who is the manager of our children’s clothing store Heidi & Bjarne, Istedgade 85. This is also where the beautiful products are sold.Where and how much:
You knit exactly as much as you have time and desire. We have knitters all over the country, some of whom pick up yarn from the store and others have it sent to them. This means you can easily join in, even if you live far away from Vesterbro and you knit at home.
We have a knitting community in Café Sonja (Saxogade 86) every other Thursday (odd weeks) from 3 pm to 6 pm, where some of our volunteer knitters come regularly. In addition, we have volunteer days in the store with creative activities at least a couple of times a year. This will typically be a Sunday, and there are usually 10-15 of us. It’s a fantastic community where you can greet each other and share tips and tricks.What do you get from us?
You will receive a thorough introduction and we will make sure that you are well integrated into the cozy knitting community. As a volunteer knitter, you can participate for free in our various events, such as embroidery. Finally, you will receive a 10% discount in Settlementet’s shops in Saxogade.About us:
Heidi & Bjarne is a unique social economy children’s store. We mix recycling, home knitwear and leftovers with all the latest children’s clothing and interior design. Our staff consists largely of interns who have been outside the traditional labor market for a long time.
