Lecturer in Sociology

We are seeking a Lecturer in Sociology to contribute to and extend the Department’s portfolio of sociological research.

About the role 

You will contribute to our well-established and highly successful BSc Sociology and become part of a close-knit, collegiate group of staff. 

We are open to applications from candidates with any area of sociological expertise, however are keen to recruit someone whose research intersects with our existing work in new and interesting ways. 

We are home to sociologists who study death and dying, health and medicine, knowledge and anti-knowledge, urban life, memory, violence, political sociology, critical sociological theory and institutional accountability.

This role is offered on a full time (36.5 hours per week) permanent basis.

About you

• You will hold a PhD and an undergraduate degree in the relevant discipline or equivalent qualification/experience.
• Hold a strong track record in research in relevant subject commensurate with stage of career.
• Be able to demonstrate a depth and breadth of understanding of subject matter at a complex conceptual level.

The Department for Social & Policy Sciences is one of the UK’s leading centres for social policy research and teaching excellence, committed to interdisciplinary and impactful research.
