The Department of Sociology at Brandeis University seeks an instructor for the SOC 113b, Sociology of Race and Racism, 4 credit course in Spring 2024. This course is an undergraduate course that provides an introduction to the study of race and racism and focuses on specific socio-historical issues surrounding racial inequality in the United States. A variety of media to examine topics such as the social construction of “otherness”, racial formation processes, and racial segregation are used. Usually offered every third year. The class meets on M/W 5:40-7:00. Candidates with a PhD will be given preference. Interested individuals should submit a cover letter and CV. The deadline for first consideration is Wednesday, March 20, 2024. This appointment is to a position that is in a collective bargaining unit represented by SEIU Local 509.
