Job Title: Lecturer – Psychology DepartmentDepartment: IR0034 Psychology FacultyReporting to: Faculty ManagerThe role of the lecturer carries 3 sets of distinct functions. The first being the Core Delivery Functions, the second being Mandatory Additional Functions and the third the Selective Additional Functions.1. Core Delivery Functions:Develop a Module and Assessment Guide with a structured, explicit teaching plan to include content delivery, formative assessment and multimodal delivery;Prepare teaching content and materials, including interactive, learning activities and real world learning including guest speakers, formative assessments and industry-aligned skills development;Identify knowledge, technical and transferable skills in module syllabus outlined in the module descriptor and develop assessment instruments, briefs and marking rubrics accordingly;Upload and regularly update Teaching Learning and Assessment (TL&A) content for module Moodle pages as per DBS guidelines;Respond to module-related student queries in a timely manner and provide timely feedback to students on CAs as per DBS guidelines;Write exam papers for first sitting and all repeat examinations and solutions, associated with the module;Grade assessments and upload marks to Moodle;Moderate assessment briefs, exam papers and marks on other modules, as assigned.Prepare Exam Packs for submission to External Examiners as per Exams Office guidelines;Ensure compliance with all requirements for delivery of module content and adherence to academic standards and regulations;Teach (classroom and/or online) in areas allocated by the Faculty ManagerUndertake other activity associated with the delivery of teaching;Mandatory attendance at monthly programme team meetings, to a max of four times a semester;Attendance at Programme Boards, internal and external exam boards, Graduation, Board of Studies and other meetings as required;Mandatory completion of all annual corporate compliance training in a timely manner;Mandatory attendance at first half hour of your module exams and all Exam Boards to represent module(s)/learner grades.2. Mandatory Additional Functions:Attend student recruitment events, open events and other marketing and promotional events as requested;Supervision of 4 number of postgraduate/6 number undergraduate capstone projects (pro-rata’d depending on contract);Review, develop and defend module(s) at programme review and programme development internal panels and QQI panels.3. Selective Additional Functions:Write content for On Demand delivery;Record audio and/or person-to-camera for on demand delivery;Participate in a short CPD course;Review and update asynchronous content;Programme document development;Review an additional module for revalidation;Additional Module Development, including assessment;Participate in funded research projects;Contribute to CPD deliver workshop;Participate in at least one DBS Board and/ or Committee such as: Academic Impropriety Committee, Disciplinary Committee, PASC / Academic Board and/or subcommittees/Industry Advisory Boards/ working groups**;Produce peer-reviewed research outputs;Be a module leader on shared modules, ensuring consistent delivery, content and assessment, including exam papers;Other (as agreed with your Faculty Manager).
- If there is not a need in a particular year for any of these selective functions to be carried out the allotted time must be used as teaching hours or supervision of postgraduate dissertations or undergraduate capstone projects.
