The Post

We are looking to appoint a Senior Lecturer/Lecturer who is an NMC registrant with significant teaching and clinical experience and can lead the development of teaching, research and knowledge exchange in undergraduate and postgraduate health sciences programmes.

The candidate should be a Mental Health registered nurse and experienced academic who has knowledge and clinical expertise of mental health and a proven record of excellence in teaching and learning practice. Experience of recovery focussed, and trauma informed practice, education and/or research will be of significant advantage due to the emphasis of Recovery and Trauma Informed Practice in all our programmes. As such we will seek a candidate who has evidence of engagement in pedagogic and/or practitioner research and/or other scholarly activities who is committed to contributing to the undergraduate and post graduate nursing and paramedic programmes.

The role will be advertised as Teaching and Scholarship (T&S) or Teaching and Research (T&R).

For those on a T&S contract they will be expected to undertake pedagogical research and scholarly activity which aligns to the strategic direction of the Faculty and University.

For those appointed on a T&R contract, they will be expected to undertake research activity leading to funding proposals and high quality outputs. Candidates on T&R will have or be working towards PhD.

Description of Duties

Grade 8

T&R

  • Engage in individual and collaborative research, which aligns to the strategic direction of the University, establish a distinctive programme of research and disseminate results through regular publication in high impact journals, books and conference proceedings
  • Identify appropriate sources of funding, prepare research proposals for funding bodies and manage grants awarded
  • Supervise research students and staff as required, providing direction, support and guidance
  • Design, teach and assess a range of teaching and learning, supervision and assessment activities across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes including online/digital programmes where required.

T&S

  • Design, deliver, assess and evaluate a range of teaching and learning, supervision and assessment activities across undergraduate, postgraduate including online/digital programmes, where required
  • Contribute to curriculum review and enhancement, in a manner that supports student learning and is underpinned by evidence based scholarly activity
  • Enhance the quality of teaching provision and programme development, drawing on leading practices from the HE sector
