Our group has a broad base of expertise from a wide range of engineering and scientific backgrounds.We are seeking to appoint a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Marine Technology (Shipping and Logistics). This is an exciting opportunity to join one of the leading Engineering Schools in the UK.We are a world-class research-intensive university, delivering high-quality teaching and playing a key role in the economic, social, and cultural development of the North East of England.Attracting and retaining high-calibre individuals is fundamental to our continued success.The successful candidate will join a leading team of experts in Marine, Offshore and Subsea Technology that spans research across marine hydrodynamics and structures, marine resources and renewable energy, and sustainable shipping and marine engineering. With a broad base of expertise and working closely with Industry, the Group focusses on solving global grand challenges in Marine Technology. This research supports the School’s strong track record of national and international research collaborations, with strategic partnerships in key areas tackling global challenges in sustainable energy, transport, and advanced manufacturing.We particularly welcome applicants whose research interests include:

  • Maritime decarbonisation and shipping sustainability
  • Logistics and ports
  • Marine production (shipyards, retrofitting, maintenance) and project management
  • Digitalisation and AI in marine technology

Through your research and teaching you will deliver expertise in:

  • Analysing shipping and logistics systems
  • Supporting transport operations to become both greener and smarter
  • Investigating pathways to net zero intermodal transport
  • Exploiting the potential of logistics data
  • Maximising the potential of intelligent and smart systems
  • Enhancing transport safety, cyber security and resilience
