Job Purpose Summary
The post-holder will be a key member of NatureScot’s licensing team in the Wildlife Management
Activity Team undertaking a range of duties supporting the delivery of NatureScot’s licensing
function. The main focus of the role is on legislative and policy development in particular for
areas of new licensing responsibility. Line Management of staff, as well as coaching the wider
team in areas of novel and contentious casework will also be required. Ability to manage a high
profile and varied workload efficiently and effectively is required along with good
interpersonal skills.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
- Policy and legislative development – working closely with Scottish Government and internal
colleagues developing licensing approaches for Wildlife Management and Muirburn Bill - Project management – Lead on a programme of improvements to systems and licensing
approaches to ensure we provide an efficient, effective and enabling licensing service. - Manage and QA complex and contentious cases related to licencing casework
- Staff/ team line and matrix management – a key role in the licensing team providing a
co-ordinated and consistent approach to service delivery, customer focus and legislative
compliance to ensure efficient delivery of our licensing function - Input to and coordinate current and future reporting requirements and policy development
- Communication – Provide advice to NatureScot’s media team, stakeholders and others in
relation to licensing queries
