Offer Description

A 2-year postdoc position at CEREGE (Aix-en-Provence, France) to work on the ERC funded project ForCry is available. This project seeks to develop and expand the breadth of the boron isotope pH proxy at high spatial and temporal resolutions.
The successful applicant will be a member of the Climate research team at CEREGE. They will work closely with collaborators in the department and across the world and will help to mentor more junior team members as well as other career development opportunities.

The postdoc will create highly resolved records of atmospheric CO2 via the boron isotope pH proxy across multiple discrete periods in the Neogene and Quaternary (last 10 million years), with a particular focus on the Pleistocene and Pliocene. The output of this research will be used in conjunction with available temperature and other proxy reconstructions to investigate the potential for state dependency of climate sensitivity under the presence of northern hemisphere ice (the change in global temperature for a given change in CO2) over the last 10 million years. The post will involve d11B measurements from upper ocean dwelling species of foraminifera, using a combination of in situ laser ablation and solution-based techniques. A field campaign culturing foraminifera in Bermuda is planned for 2025, to better understand the calibration of different species and how information is preserved in the geological record.

Le CEREGE is located onle plateau du Petit Arbois, Technopole Environnement Arbois – Méditerranée, Avenue Louis Philibert, Les Milles-Aix en Provence
