Job Description

As part of Ubisoft’s Data Office, the role of our department is to build new products based on the latest advances in Machine Learning & Deep Learning research. Above all, our motto is to never stop at the prototyping phase: our mission is to turn these new models into scalable, production-grade online services.

Your role? To join us on one of our R&D projects in Natural Language Processing (NLP) involving Large Language Models (LLM). The internship will focus on the adaptation of LLMs to the context of Ubisoft’s Player Support. More precisely, the intern will explore the recent techniques of Parameter-Efficient Fine-Tuning (PEFT) and various approaches to the LLM serving optimization.

As a Machine Learning Engineer Assistant, your main missions will be:

  • Establishing a literature review on our topic of interest, focusing on the most recent papers.
  • Translating research papers into operational code, reusing open-source repositories, or implementing from scratch.
  • Testing these papers on Ubisoft datasets, bridging the gap between clean academic datasets and messy real-life data.
  • Helping us turn these papers into a real-life application to be used by our players.

Qualifications

  • You are currently undergoing a specialty in Machine Learning, Deep Learning or Natural Language Processing (NLP);
  • You have a solid knowledge of Deep Learning and mastery of standard Deep Learning frameworks (PyTorch), and experience of NLP projects involving Transformers would be a plus;
  • You have good knowledge of Python, Linux, Git and ideally general programming skills (contribution to open-source projects, low-level languages, etc.);
  • You ideally already have experience in reading academic articles on Machine Learning;
  • A good French level would be a plus.
