Offer DescriptionUNIQUE OPPORTUNITY WITH THE CATALAN WATER RESEARCH INSTITUTE (ICRA)ICRA is looking for exceptional, highly-motivated and ambitious researchers of any nationality interested in developing collaborative applications for the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions Postdoctoral Fellowships call 2025 (MSCA PF).MSCA PF aims to equip researchers with the necessary skills and international experience for a successful career, either in the public or the private sector. The MSCA calls are open to all domains of research & innovation, from fundamental research to market take-up and innovation services. Research and innovation fields are chosen freely by the applicants in a fully ‘bottom-up’ manner.Postdoctoral fellowships can either take place in Europe (i.e. in an EU Member State or a Horizon Europe Associated Country- European Postdoctoral Fellowships) or in a Third Country not associated to Horizon Europe (Global Postdoctoral Fellowships).This means that two schemes are available to apply for with ICRA:1. European Postdoctoral Fellowships are open to researchers of any nationality who wish to engage in R&I projects by coming to ICRA (Girona, Spain) from any country in the world. The standard duration of these fellowships must be between 12 and 24 months.2. Global Postdoctoral Fellowships are open to European nationals or long-term residents (at least 5 consecutive years) who wish to engage in R&I projects with organizations outside EU Member States and Horizon Europe Associated Countries. Years of experience outside research and career breaks (e.g. due to parental leave), will not count towards the amount of research experience.Nationality & Mobility rules: applicants can be of any nationality but must not have resided or carried out their main activity (work, studies, etc.) for more than 12 months in the last 3 years (between the 11/09/2022 and the 10/09/2025):in Spain- for European Postdoctoral Fellowshipsin the third country of host organization in the outgoing phase – for Global Postdoctoral Fellowshipsthis scheme is available only for EU national or long term residents (at least 5 consecutive years)Specific RequirementsICRA has been created to conduct top-quality multidisciplinary research in the world of water science. Its Principal Investigators (PI) and researchers come from a wide range of disciplines (ecology and environmental sciences, limnology, chemistry, engineering, biology) and are among the best in their respective fields, at both national and international level.ICRA’s is particularly interested in proposals within the following research topics, though any alternative suggestions will also be considered:– Decentralized greywater treatment by nature-based solutions for water reuse: emerging contaminants and plant uptake– Unveiling Microbial Signatures: Harnessing Wastewater-based Epidemiology for Human Health Assessment– Human exposome and Wastewater-based epidemiology: studying chemical markers of unintentional exposure to environmental contaminants– Analysis of microplastics and related contaminants using Pyrolysis-GC-MS for their monitoring in greywater treatment trains for water reuse applications– Fate of PFAS in potable water reuse– Assessment of persistent, mobile, and toxic compounds in groundwater intended for drinking water supply– Advanced treatment technologies.
