The Role:

 

Oxfam Syria is looking for MEAL Assistant

The Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL) Assistant is a position within the MEAL team at hub under the supervision of the MEAL Officer. MEAL Assistant will support MEAL officer in strengthening and management of learning and accountability mechanisms, implementation of an integrated MEAL strategy and framework for Oxfam in Syria both at partner and Oxfam levels. The MEAL Assistant supports the Hub teams and partner organisations in carrying out quality MEAL – involving support to the provision of technical advice, tools, capacity building, and guidance. The MEAL Assistant contributes to ensuring that Syria hub teams adopt a systematic approach to MEAL, can effectively track results and impact, and manage and use data and MEAL findings effectively.

    In addition:

  • 2-3 years previous experience of working in humanitarian sectors including WASH, livelihood, protection, and gender is preferable.
  • Minimum 1-2 years’ direct experience in MEAL in resilience Livelihood, Emergency Response and WASH and Protection sectors.
  • Excellent project monitoring and quality control skills.
  • Ability to create and develop databases – some knowledge of relevant statistical software would be highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with the Core Humanitarian Standard is an advantage.

•    Passion for improving effectiveness and impact of multi-sectoral programs and demonstrating tangible outcomes for poor and vulnerable women and men.
•    Strong commitment to gender equality and social justice, and the aims and values of Oxfam.
•    Potential and flexibility of attitude to learn.
•    Basic knowledge in Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning. 
•    Experience of gathering, analysing, and presenting quantitative and qualitative data.
•    Ability to plan workload and demonstrate accountability for outputs with minimal direct supervision.
•    Good organizational skills including accuracy, consistency, attention to detail, tenacity, and the ability to work under pressure.  
•    Ability to work under pressure, ability to prioritise and commitment to meet deadlines. 
•    Ability to work with partners.
•    Fluent in written and spoken English and Arabic
