The Day After (TDA) is a Syrian non-profit organization that is working to countering authoritarianism and support democratic transition in Syria. It adopts the values of human rights in accordance with international conventions and covenants.

OUR GOALS

TDA identifies the following as goals that should guide the efforts of political transition:

  • Supporting civil initiatives locally inside Syria and supplying them with knowledge in the areas of justice, human rights, and the political transition from an authoritarian regime to a democratic one.
  • Supporting justice and accountability efforts by supporting victims of human rights violations in Syria, especially victims of arbitrary arrest, enforced disappearance and displacement, and monitoring patterns of violations and raising awareness of relevant actors and stakeholders.
  • Supporting the efforts of the political transition from its position in the Syrian civil society in line with its values and objectives.
  • Coordinating the efforts of Syrian civil society in the areas of transitional justice and engaging in the formulation of a political transition.

Job purpose:

The MEAL Officer will be responsible for ensuring the development of result-based reports aligned with TDA’s strategic objectives, fostering a clear connection between project activities, outcomes, and the underlying theory of change. This role focuses on the accuracy and effectiveness of project implementation as per the proposal and results framework

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support the development and lead the implementation of effective monitoring frameworks aligned with the organisation’s goals and donor requirements, including systems (guidelines, tools, and templates) for monitoring, evaluating, and reporting on program results.
  • Develop result-based reports that reflect the outcomes outlined in implemented projects, incorporating the theory of change.
  • Undertake effective monitoring of TDA projects, ensuring data quality and tracking the progress of activities.
  • Coordinate with the program team and field staff to enhance information-gathering and reporting processes and ensure compliance with Monitoring and Evaluation requirements.
  • Produce program monitoring and evaluation reports in a timely manner, according to TDA’s internal needs and donors’ requirements.
  • Maintain an organized digital archiving system of all data and information related to M&E activities.
  • Develop and maintain an effective information database on projects, providing resources and necessary support for program inputs and outputs.
  • Track the programmatic reporting needs of donors to ensure quality and timely reporting.
  • Support TDA staff in applying M&E guidelines and tools and preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.
  • Provide translation of monitoring documents between Arabic and English as needed.
  • Assist the communication department with key information and statistics on TDA’s interventions for reports when necessary.
  • Organize and coordinate lessons-learned workshops and reviews of program work plans within TDA and with partners for internal and external sharing.

Academic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Social Sciences, International Development, or a related field.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in monitoring and evaluation, with a strong understanding of developing and applying the theory of change in project settings for at least 3 years.
  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency in statistical software.
  • Experience in both quantitative and qualitative data collection, including knowledge of tools, processes, and methodologies.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of results-based management and reporting

Skills:

  • Strong written and organizational skills for monitoring and reporting on results
  • Excellent written communication skills in English, including proven experience writing donor reports and effectively synthesizing monitoring data
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to effectively communicate remotely.
  • High proficiency in Arabic and English (spoken and written)
  • Strong computer skills: proven ability to use MS Office
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Respect confidentiality and data protection
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Keen ability to articulate the connection between activities, outcomes, and the overarching theory of change.
