Salary:  up to £36.80 per hour (DOE)

Liverpool John Moores University International Study Centre are recruiting a Mechanical Engineering Tutor to join the existing teaching team. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching modules in Mechanical Engineering to students on university preparation programmes offered by the Centre. 

This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and innovative tutor.  The right candidate will have a natural ability to motivate students and deliver high-quality teaching as well as carry out relevant pastoral functions.  You will enjoy working with international students, be performance driven and be able to work co-operatively and flexibly with other colleagues within the centre and across the network. We are looking for a patient tutor who is committed to providing an interesting and effective blended learning experience to our students. 

ABOUT THE ROLE 

  • Deliver high-quality teaching to international students.

  • Conduct formative and summative marking and feedback, adhering to quality standards.

  • Act as Module Leader, coordinating tutors, updating handbooks, and managing assessments.

  • Teach up to 25 hours per week on the Engineering pathway.

  • Implement enhancement activities and maintain accurate student progression tracking.

  • Promote differentiation in the classroom and creative use of technology-enhanced learning.

  • Ensure the virtual learning environment meets standards and stay updated on academic developments.

  • Foster productive relations with colleagues.

    ABOUT YOU

  • A Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent, in a relevant subject area (Essential)

  • A Masters and/or PhD in the subject area (Desirable for level 3, Essential to teach at level 6)

  • Relevant teaching qualification (Desirable)

  • Substantial hands-on teaching experience teaching ideally to International students on university preparation courses up to Pre-Masters level. 

  • Experience in developing and updating teaching materials for blended learning, and experience working with a Virtual Learning Environment. 

  • Knowledge of Python or equivalent coding software specific to mechanical engineering (Desirable).
