They will address these deficits through the specification of asset refurbishment or placement that restores and/or enhances the capacity and performance of key processes within and relating to Water Treatment Plants. The successful candidate will apply the best practices of asset management when considering the refurbishment/acquisition, operation, maintenance and eventual disposal of assets.The overall goal is to improve the condition of the asset base, thus improving service and resilience while also delivering the associated benefits of improved energy efficiency and lower Opex.The role will focus on Water treatment plants across nationwide asset base and associated sites (e.g. Raw Water Intakes and Reservoirs). By reviewing data and collaborating with teams and colleagues throughout the organisation, you will develop an understanding of current asset performance while supporting the development of maintenance and capital investment plans for sites nationally.Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assess information relating to asset deficits identified by team colleagues or colleagues across the business.
  • Review Site Energy Data, Energy Audit Reports and associated site performance data.
  • Review Site Asset Condition Reports.
  • Specify the scope of energy audits or condition surveys and other associated data gathering that may be required
  • Review of pump curves and pump performance data to determine the suitability of existing or proposed pumps for their intended duty, determine their energy performance and quantify potential energy savings
  • Reviewing pump data to determine current performance, continued suitability and whether the assets warrant refurbishment or replacement.
  • Specification of short or long term instrumenting or other data gathering techniques required to assess asset performance.
  • Review data relating to or perform inspections and evaluations of other high energy consuming water-related process assets, such as compressors, blowers and other critical mechanical equipment to assess their condition and performance.
  • Develop a prioritised plan for asset refurbishment or replacement based within available budgets.
  • Taking lessons already learned and combining them with good industry practice to:
  • Inform investment decisions
  • Develop recommendations for any necessary revisions to Standards or Specification
  • Develop recommendations for the development of effective procurement practices that facilitate the fast and efficient repair or replacement of assets.
  • All the while ensuring no adverse impact to water quality or plant throughput.
  • Regular review and re-prioritisation of planned asset replacement based on emerging needs or revised information.
  • Document and manage asset investment and capital interventions through Investment Planning and Maximo systems
  • Collaborate with colleagues to review or establish preventive maintenance (PM) programs or asset performance monitoring practices and procedures.
  • Write technical reports on issues related to the role including asset condition, performance, safety or reliability
  • Ensure all asset assessment activities adhere to industry regulations, safety standards, and company policies
  • Work in a positive and collaborative manner with a range or stakeholders across to agree the nature, size, scope and practicalities of asset replacement. This may include other teams within Asset Planning, IDD and teams within Operations including the Frontline Operations and Operational Support functional areas

Skills & Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience, Mechanical or Electrical engineering qualified or Mechanical or Electrical trades qualified or equivalent
  • Demonstrate previous experience relating to the activities outlined above.
  • Experience working alongside a condition-based maintenance or planned maintenance team within a processing or manufacturing facility or within utilities
  • Knowledge of water treatment processes with a strong knowledge of related pumps, pump assessment and associated power and control equipment and systems a distinct advantage.
  • Strong Knowledge of process safety management
  • Full Clean driver licence (Class B)
  • Excellent communication and reporting skills
  • Ability to build working relationships and communicate with a range of stakeholders who have varying levels of technical knowledge relating to our team goals and activities
