The Role:

 

MEDIA AND COMMUNICATIONS

  • Support in publishing content on Oxfam Pakistan social media handles as part of the ongoing Oxfam Pakistan projects and Humanitarian Response, which includes social media graphics, videos and any other publishable content as required.
  • Assist in development of materials for Oxfam Pakistan events, workshops, meetings and conferences.
  • Support in providing adequate media coverage for all programme activities, functions and press releases/press statements.
  • Support programme partners in media and communications related capacity building.
  • Work with the project team to implement a high-quality story-gathering plan by supporting in generating compelling stories for use in media, social media, and wider communications through project website.
  • Work with different project and units of program teams in country and partners to ensure high quality communication products – such as best practice case stories, photos, annual reports, newsletters, blogs, video, Oxfam in Pakistan social media channels, newsletter, etc.
  • Conduct field visits to programme field areas, to produce materials for external use (donors, supporters, the private sector, policy makers).

 

SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE

Essential

  • Degree in Journalism and Mass Communication, development studies. Academic degree in social science with relevant experience in internal and external communication and media engagement can be considered.
  • Sound understanding on the development context of Pakistan and rights-based approach with atleast two to three years of experience.
  • Technically competent in internal communication, media engagement, social media, public campaign. Experience in working with youth, women, vulnerable group and private sector will be an added advantage.
  • Experience in visibility and brand management, ability to identify branding risk and suggest appropriate solutions.
  • Good interpersonal communication, presentation and coordination and open to receiving feedback on content.
  • Ability to frequently travel to remote areas of Pakistan.
  • Willing and able to adapt priorities to respond to changing demands.
  • Experience in media partnership.

 

Desirable

  • Advance degree in communication
  • Experience in working with youth, women, vulnerable group and private sector
  • Experience in event management
