About the RoleAs a Mental Health Teaching Assistant, you’ll be part of a supportive and passionate team helping young people overcome emotional, behavioural, and mental health challenges. You’ll work closely with both students and staff to create a nurturing, trauma-informed learning environment.Key Responsibilities
- Deliver 1:1 and small-group support to students with SEMH needs
- Help implement personalised behaviour and emotional support plans
- Encourage positive coping strategies, confidence, and emotional regulation
- Support classroom inclusion and engagement for all students
- Liaise with teachers, parents, and external agencies to monitor progres
- Contribute to a school-wide ethos of care, structure, and mental wellbeing
What We’re Looking For
- Experience as a SEMH Teaching Assistant or background in supporting vulnerable children
- Psychology, Criminology, or related degree preferred
- A passion for mental health, inclusion, and making a lasting impact
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively
- Emotional resilience, empathy, and patience in challenging situations
- Ability to commute to Stevenage
- A commitment to long-term development in education or therapeutic work
