About the RoleAs a Mental Health Teaching Assistant, you’ll be part of a supportive and passionate team helping young people overcome emotional, behavioural, and mental health challenges. You’ll work closely with both students and staff to create a nurturing, trauma-informed learning environment.Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver 1:1 and small-group support to students with SEMH needs
  • Help implement personalised behaviour and emotional support plans
  • Encourage positive coping strategies, confidence, and emotional regulation
  • Support classroom inclusion and engagement for all students
  • Liaise with teachers, parents, and external agencies to monitor progres
  • Contribute to a school-wide ethos of care, structure, and mental wellbeing

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience as a SEMH Teaching Assistant or background in supporting vulnerable children
  • Psychology, Criminology, or related degree preferred
  • A passion for mental health, inclusion, and making a lasting impact
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively
  • Emotional resilience, empathy, and patience in challenging situations
  • Ability to commute to Stevenage
  • A commitment to long-term development in education or therapeutic work
