The Faculty of Law seeks to appoint an Administrator for Alumni, Events and Teaching Support for the MSc in Taxation degree programme to cover a period of maternity leave. 

The MSc Taxation is a two-year, part-time, non-residential taught Master’s degree which attracts legal and accounting professionals and others, and which requires a high degree of professionalism in all aspects of administrative support. The postholder will join an enthusiastic team of academics and administrators and will have general responsibility for a range of administrative functions and will also provide additional administrative support to the Course Administrator for the MSc in Taxation.    The postholder is also responsible for the Law Faculty’s relatively new two-week Summer Programme, under the direction of the Director of the programme.

The work of the postholder will be directed by the MSc Course Directors and Deputy Directors, and the postholder will report to the Senior Administrator for the MLF and Postgraduate Taught Courses. They will work closely on a day-to-day basis with the Course Administrator for the MSc in Taxation, with whom the postholder will share an office, and will be a member of the Law Faculty’s student administration team, led by the Academic Administrator for postgraduate studies.

The successful candidate will have proven administrative experience, with the ability to produce accurate work to high standards; excellent written and oral communication skills; able to communicate confidently and effectively with administrative and academic staff within the University, with external representatives from firms, and with prospective and on-course students and alumni, including the use of a range of digital media to network and communicate; excellent organisational skills and efficient working methods; IT proficient and capable of using some software packages for a range of functions (though training will be given where necessary); flexible approach to work, with a supportive and co-operative attitude and the composure to handle unexpected situations and the ability to interpret, apply and communicate regulations and procedures. Experience of using one of more of the software packages listed in the further particulars in a similar context and experience of managing budgets and using financial software to raise purchase orders is desirable.

This is a full time,  fixed-term post arising from the maternity leave of the current postholder. The role is available from 16 January 2024 until 31 December 2024 or the actual return of the substantive postholder, or the resignation of the substantive postholder and employment of a new postholder, whichever is the earliest.
