Job title:
MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowships in Applied Mathematics
Company:
Job description
is seeking researchers who hold a PhD (with no more than 8 years of full-time equivalent research experience) and are interested in pursuing a research project in the framework of the Marie Curie Postdoctoral Fellowships 2025.Research Center – CITMAgaThe Galician Centre of Mathematical Research and Technology ( ) has a profound commitment to developing research actions focused on sustainability from a mathematical perspective. The exploitation of natural resources has led to particular species being placed in critical situations. The mathematical modeling of biological communities and their dynamics, both statistical and deterministic, will provide a deeper vision and knowledge about these areas, allowing the design of adequate preservation policies. On the other hand, the estimates of limited fossil fuel reserves and, to a greater extent, the deterioration of the planet due to emissions derived from their use, make the development of renewable energy extraction technology (solar, wind, maritime) a priority. In this sense, mathematical modeling, numerical simulation, and optimization techniques play an essential role in the development of prototypes, as well as in the creation of devices that control and manage them.Main Lines of Mathematical Research in Life and Sustainability at CITMAga
- Biostatistics and Biomathematics
- Understanding the environment and climate change
- Towards sustainability
Project OverviewThe hosted research project is a joint effort among multidisciplinary stakeholders with diverse knowledge backgrounds (applied mathematics, statistics, acoustics, and biology) to develop novel digital twins of coastal seabeds, focusing on the health monitoring of relevant biological underwater environments.is a project endorsed as part of the Decade of Ocean Action by UNESCO. It aims to foster the design, implementation, and use of digital twin tools for monitoring the physical nature of the seabed from a quantitative perspective, quantify the uncertainty of those predictions in terms of hydroacoustic data, and subsequently, analyze some complex phenomena present in underwater environments. The proposal should be oriented to the development of numerical and computational models to solve challenging problems in underwater acoustics and/or the characterization of seabed sediments, or porous materials. Competitive applications should address current challenges in underwater coastal environments and design effective technical numerical methodologies to analyse scattering problems from a mathematical or a numerical point of view. The project outline is flexible and open to refinement. It will be adapted to align with the strengths and expertise of the postdoctoral researcher and the host group.Fellowship EnvironmentThe selected candidate will join an international research group at CITMAga, University of A Coruña, under the UNESCO research project . The fellow will also receive tailored support in preparing a competitive MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowship application from the European project office at CITMAga.Expressions of InterestPotential applicants must contact Prof. Andrés Prieto ) as soon as possible. They should include a CV and a short motivation letter in their email.Share this page
