A fantastic chance to be a Nature Recovery Projects Officer on a pioneering seascape scale
restoration project, working with a multi-disciplined partnership addressing some of the key
challenges facing not only Chichester Harbour, but the wider UK marine environment.
About Us
Chichester Harbour National Landscape is one of the most important sites for wildlife in the
UK, as well as being an active harbour for water users.
Our focus is on the protection and restoration of nature as well as recreation and leisure. In
response to the declining state of nature, we established the CHaPRoN partnership (Chichester
Harbour Protection and Recovery of Nature) in 2020, as an initiative to help protect and
restore the Harbour’s natural environment. CHaPRoN is one of ten partners in the Blue Marine
Foundation’s Solent Seascape Project: a five-year, multi-million-pound conservation project to
reconnect the Solent into a functioning seascape by improving the condition, extent, and
connectivity of key marine and coastal habitats.
The role
As Nature Recovery Projects Officer you will be responsible for a programme of projects from
the CHaPRoN delivery plan that protect, enhance and restore the coastal habitats of saltmarsh
and seagrass within the harbour and fulfils CHaPRoN’s responsibilities for the Solent Seascape
Project.

About You
You’ll possess relevant qualifications and have excellent general knowledge of
ecology/conservation and the ability to quickly build a strong knowledge base relating to
specific habitats/species.
You will have experience in delivering wildlife restoration and/or creation projects, in
scientific monitoring of project sites and of working in partnerships to achieve shared
outcomes. The skills required for the role include competent project management, understanding
of licensing and consenting of habitat management projects and experience of applying for and
obtaining grants or other funding.
You will be a confident communicator, able to work effectively and build positive relationships
with partners, stakeholders, colleagues, and contractors.
