Are you a motivated and talented individual experienced with immersive and neuroscientific technologies, with an interest in applying your skills in a research environment?The Nerve Lab is a new mixed methods research and knowledge exchange facility combining the latest wearable neurocognitive recording equipment with real-time audiovisual generative AI computer systems to enable the development of innovative new media experiences and study how they impact audiences in real-time.To assist with the operation and development of the Nerve Lab facility at CCI, we have created an exciting role for a specialist technician that puts you at the convergence of neurocognitive research and immersive technologies.Combining the use of 3D real-time development platforms, EEG, Eye Tracking, Functional Near-Infrared Spectroscopy, Motion Capture and Virtual Reality in a creative environment, you will have an opportunity to use your existing expertise in some of these areas to support innovative research whilst acquiring new skills.If you are a motivated and talented individual with a passion for psychology, neuroscience, motion capture and biometric technologies we would like to invite you to apply for the role of Neurocognitive Research Specialist Technician in the Creative Computing Institute (CCI) at UAL.About youAs a motivated and skilled individual with a passion for immersive technology you have a keen interest in how your technical experience can be applied to supporting research in creative practice, user-testing, experimental psychology and neuroscience.With your mixed skillset and expertise working with technologies such as 3D real-time development environments, Eye Tracking, EEG, Motion Capture, NIRS, and Virtual Reality systems, you’ll be the technical expert ensuring the smooth operation of an innovative neurocognitive research facility. You understand the principles of the technology involved, and although you have demonstrable expertise in some, but not necessarily all of them, will be excited by the challenge of learning the full range of technologies employed.Competent with administrative work including managing consumable and equipment inventories, bookings, and documentation, you’re also a confident communicator happy working with public facing relations teams for promoting hire and events. You’ll have keen organisational skills, attentiveness, and an eye for detail.As a dedicated, specialist technician, you will be able to work proactively and independently knowing that you will have the full support of experienced academic and technical teams behind you when you need it.Please note that the successful candidate will be required to complete an enhanced DBS check in addition to our standard pre-employment checks.Application processWe operate a fair and open anonymous selection process.
