JOB DESCRIPTION:

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

  • The DBS Business Development Manager South Cluster is responsible for developing the DBS customer base, building a solid KOL network, collaborating with local marketing & CMs to develop a comprehensive growth strategy and local tactics & assuring consistent sales growth and achievement of sales targets with a first focus on 2 countries (France & Switzerland)
  • He / she will also support the DBS sales strategy & local tactics in Spain, Italy and EM, bring expertise to the local management, share best practices and be identified by local KOLs as the DBS business expert in South 

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Business Strategy & tactics

  • Elaborate together with local marketing the appropriate strategy & tactics to penetrate the DBS market in Switzerland, increase the number of active accounts in France and establish a solid brand reputation within the DBS neurosurgeons / neurologists population
  • Develop a specific strategy for KOL management in the cluster focusing first on France & Switzerland then Spain, EM & Italy
  • Own therapy strategy, develop KOL network & lead key clinical customer events such as round table and advisory meetings.
  • Work closely with ID DBS Marketing and ID clinical teams to align on specific focus and strategy for the cluster .
  • Own Cluster competency-based training in conjunction with the ID training and education team to ensure effective and consistency in sign off process.
  • Act as the cluster ‘Train the Trainer’ as required.
  • Support wider EMEA education through support at European education courses, as required.
  • Provide technical support and assistance to the DBS sales force & FTEs and physicians for DBS procedures .
  • Maintain personal clinical & technical knowledge to the highest standard expected of an ‘Expert’.
  • Once a solid business base is established, work with CM on recruitment of dedicated DBS sales force in the cluster countries

Sales target achievement 

  • Understand the dynamics of the local markets and competitors’ strategies impacting the accounts within the cluster with a first focus on France & Switzerland
  • Segment the market & select the right accounts to roll out the sales strategy 
  • Develop and implement account plans to achieve sales revenue in these 2 countries 
  • Supervise the training of local FTEs to support and provide assistance to the physicians for implants and follow-ups
  • Conduct product presentations and perform stand duty at exhibitions when requested, responding to technical questions that might be raised by internal or external customer personnel
  • Maintain comprehensive and accurate territory records using and provide reports and forecasts when requested
  • Maintain a thorough working knowledge of DBS competitors’ (MDT, BSX) and share this knowledge with the local marketers & CMs as appropriate.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Maintain up to date knowledge relevant to the Neuromodulation market as well as an understanding of the Neuromodulation market dynamics in the cluster
  • To plan activities in an organised and efficient manner and control expenditure.
  • To support marketing activities, and industry meetings as required.
  • To provide prompt and accurate verbal and written feedback to management on specific issues as they arise, including the review of opportunities for further sales.
  • To foster a teamwork relationship with colleagues in the sales team to achieve business goals including regular feedback of customer activity and sales opportunities.
  • To identify and feedback to management, recommendations for refinements in NMD products and services as they arise.
  • To project a professional and ethical Abbott image at all times in front of customers and colleagues.

Section 3: EDUCATION & COMPETENCIES

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience within the DBS field in a South European country as well as experience at European level in a multi cultural environment
  • Strong communication skills – written and verbal
  • Willingness to travel throughout France, Switzerland, Spain, EM and Europe
  • Familiarity with DBS operating room environment procedures and protocols
  • Good commercial awareness & relationship builder
  • Leadership, change agent, a ‘can do’ attitude, people orientated, persuasive, consultative, adaptable, results orientated, approachable, influencing, excellent organisational planning skills. Ethical character and professional image
