It has evolved from a single function agency managing the National Debt to a manager of a complex portfolio of public assets and liabilities.
Businesses managed by the NTMA include borrowing for the Exchequer and the management of the National Debt, the State Claims Agency, the New Economy and Recovery Authority (“NewERA”), the Ireland Strategic Investment Fund, National Development Finance Agency and the NTMA Future Ireland Funds business unit with responsibility for the management of the Future Ireland Fund and Infrastructure, Climate and Nature Fund.

About NewERANewERA provides a dedicated centre of corporate finance expertise to the Government in relation to the oversight and development of State-owned companies.
NewERA’s core role is to provide corporate finance advice to Government Ministers in relation to the major commercial State companies, which operate across a range of sectors and play a critical role in the Irish economy. NewERA’s approach is to facilitate an enhanced level of active ownership by the State as shareholder in the Portfolio Companies. For further information, please see:About the RoleNewERA is seeking to appoint a suitable candidate to the position of Operations Manager on a permanent basis. The role provides an exciting opportunity to join a growing and dynamic team where the successful candidate will gain broad exposure to a range of business operations activities, working in a commercially driven environment that combines private sector best practices and a public sector remit.The successful candidate will report directly to the Head of Operations and the role will encompass a broad range of non-corporate finance related activities, including co-ordination of services provided by NTMA corporate functions (ICT, Finance, Risk, Internal Audit, Communications, Procurement, Facilities, Compliance, People, Secretariat, etc), while liaising with a wide range of stakeholders across the NTMA.Principal Responsibilities
The successful candidate’s ongoing responsibilities will include:1. Work closely and liaise with NTMA corporate functions including ICT, Finance, Risk, Internal Audit, Communications, Procurement, Facilities, Compliance, People, Secretariat, Corporate Strategy and other functions that support NewERA in delivering its mandate.
2. Coordination of NewERA projects including the scheduling of project meetings, updating relevant project documentation and status reporting to a high standard.
3. Assist with internal reporting requirements, including reports for the CEO and board.
4. Work with NTMA ICT to ensure NewERA’s systems and overall IT requirements are being met and act as NewERA’s ICT Liaison.
5. Ongoing management of NewERA’s business continuity responsibilities, including representing NewERA at various for fora.
6. Support the delivery of an effective operational risk management environment, working with the Head of Operations and NTMA Risk to manage the NewERA Risk register and the accompanying controls.
7. Coordinate and support the organisation of NewERA events, both internally and externally and engage with NTMA communications to manage any associated communications.
8. Support the delivery of the operations of NewERA including audit management, compliance, annual budget setting and process development.
9. Provide support to the NewERA Senior Management Team with various business-related tasks, as required.Knowledge and experience1. Relevant third level qualification in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Scientific, Engineering or a related discipline.
2. Broad operational experience preferably in the financial sector.
3. Proven stakeholder management skills with the ability to communicate across multiple stakeholder groups.
4. Project management qualification or relevant experience desirable.
5. Managed operational activities delivering high quality outputs and process improvements throughout.Experience

  • Candidates should have a minimum of 7 years’ experience in a relevant operations role in professional services, advisory or a commercial organisation of scale.

  • Problem solving skills and the ability to multitask.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and interpersonally and be able to work collaboratively with colleagues and stakeholders, including other NTMA departments and governance fora.

  • Flexible and considerate team player.
  • Proficient with MS Office – Excel, Word and Powerpoint.
