The Institute for Mathematical Innovation (IMI) is a dynamic research and innovation institute providing mathematical expertise to large, high impact and high value academic and industrial research activities.
Key to the IMI is the Operations Officer who is responsible for institute-wide administrative activities.
We are seeking a highly competent individual with excellent problem-solving skills to join our team.
As part of this busy and varied role:
- You will engage with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders.
- You should be confident working independently and enjoy being part of a high-functioning team.
- You will be empowered to advise and make administrative decisions, ensuring the smooth and successful running of the IMI.
Excellent communication skills are essential and the ability to manage relationships and anticipate staff and stakeholder needs is crucial.

About us:
We live in the “era of mathematics”, where data, modelling, algorithms and artificial intelligence have become deeply rooted in all aspects of modern society. The IMI is leading the delivery of multi-disciplinary and mathematically grounded research informed by real-world, societal and industrial challenges. IMI partners with research centres of excellence, EPSRC centres for doctoral training and beyond, collaborating to add value to grant capture, delivery of research activities, driving innovation and impact.
There are close links between IMI and the Department of Mathematical Sciences which has over 70 academic staff from all areas of Mathematics. The department has a strong culture of collaboration across research areas, reinforced by our EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training in Statistical Applied Mathematics at Bath (SAMBa).
