Position DescriptionAs we transition our electricity system to a high renewables low carbon system with customers at the centre, we need to maintain operational excellence and ensure security of supply, whilst developing and scaling more flexible demand. Distribution Markets & System Operations (DMSO) is a new function established to drive ESB Networks’ transition to a high-renewable, low-carbon energy system. The DMSO’s purpose is to build, maintain, operate, and develop the network to meet the changing needs of society, with customers at the centre, while delivering operational excellence and ensuring the security of supply.The role of the Operations Support Delivery Team (OSD) is to provide the technology, processes and resource capability to support and enable the successful delivery of 15% – 20% flexibility, along with CAP targets. Part of the team’s role will involve managing the upgrade of OT systems as set out in the Operational Technology Systems Upgrade (OTSU). The team will work with the business to successfully transition the OT systems, ensuring all people, process and technology changes are accepted and integrated into the DMSO Operational team.The OSD team is also responsible for increasing the level of visibility on the network allowing the DSO to actively manage its LV, MV & HV network to avoid expensive Capex reinforcement and to enable flexibility services. The team will also work with the wider business functions across ESB to build out an OT & Operational Data strategy along with a technology & data roadmap by 2030. The team will also manage & support the day to day running of operations systems and flexibility operations.We are currently looking for….
- Project Engineers
- Minimum of 3 years’ relevant work experience in the areas of Transmission & Distribution or equivalent project management including design and construction.
- Strong people skills, experience delivering within a team or cross functional initiatives, to solve problems and get the job done.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and good report witting skills
- Good IT skills (MS office suite).
- Strong technical background, capable of good judgements relating to technical alternatives, practical and safety impacts.
- Knowledge of ESB Networks Safety Rules Knowledge of LV, MV, HV network operations
- Experience of / involvement in projects where data analytic approaches were applied.
- A 3rd level degree in Engineering is essential.
- Operational Technology Specialists
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the areas of Transmission & Distribution or equivalent project management including design, construction, and management of interfaces
- Excellent of Advanced Distribution Management Systems (ADMS),Network Management Systems (NMS) and Outage Management Systems (OMS) products and applications
- Excellent knowledge of Control Centre SCADA systems.
- A strong Knowledge of substation Remote Terminal Units (RTUs) and Substation Control Systems (SCS) systems.
- Knowledge of Advanced SCADA and DMS applications.
- Excellent understanding of mission-critical OT systems
- Knowledge of SCADA products and standard communication protocols (IEC-101, IEC-104, ICCP)
- Knowledge of OT real-time integration and enterprise integration
- Knowledge of power system modelling techniques, data transformation, and GIS
- Experience in testing and releasing OT systems in production
- Knowledge and experience in electrical HV and MV Networks.
- Understanding of OT and IT system infrastructure and network architecture
- Knowledge of cybersecurity within OT systems.
- Relevant 3rd level qualification or equivalant work experience
- Operational Technology Team Lead
- Experience in Power System Modelling
- Experience in OMS, Apex and Synergee
- Knowledge of ESB’s OT system capabilities as well as in-depth knowledge of the electrical network.
- Knowledge of HV, MV, and LV Networks
- Good interpersonal and collaboration skills
- Good presentation, documentation, and communication skills.
- Ability to lead a team or project/initiative to desired goals.
- Ability to work on own initiative, taking ownership of work/projects.
