Job title:
PhD fellowship in Land Value Modelling
Company:
Københavns Universitet
Job description
Department of Food and Resource Economics invites applicants for a PhD fellowship in Land value modelling. The project is part of the research project “LandValue” which is financed by the Ministry of Green Transition.Preferred starting date 1st May 2025 or as soon as possible thereafter. The project
The aim of the project is to create and improve tools to understand the interactions of the many factors that determine the value of land. By developing and improving such tools we aspire to get a better basis for determining price conditions on land, which is an important part of the further development of the climate- and environmental regulation of agriculture.Hereby we will improve the knowledge base for understanding how regulatory efforts affect price formation on land, and how price formation may develop locally in different areas of Denmark. The goal is to use this knowledge base to further develop a model concept that can be used in scenario analyses to elucidate the consequences for land prices, and possibly also how land prices can be stabilized by means of land distribution and other measures. Former assessments of land prices include e.g. analyses that apply general equilibrium models (GreenReform), but these former attempts do not take into account the geographically varying factors such as varying nitrogen input needs, livestock production etc. Based on former experiences, the PhD project aims to further develop models, including the TargetEconBES model, to establish tools that can be used to calculate the effects on land prices of the achievement of aquatic environment, climate and biodiversity policies by setting aside and afforest agricultural land. This knowledge will be used for advice of policy makers in connection with the land distribution processes that will be under increased pressure resulting from the plans related to the green transformation of Danish agriculture related to the tripartite agreement from 2024.Who are we looking for?
