VHIR offers a vacancy for a PhD researcher to be involved in the synthesis and functional characterization of biodegradable and thermoresponsive hydrogels loaded with nanoparticles for the local and sustained multi-therapy of Ovarian Cancer, under the supervision of the doctors Diana Rafael and Fernanda Andrade at the Clinical Biochemistry, Drug Delivery& Therapy group from VHIR.Education and qualifications:Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in the field of Chemistry, Biochemistry, Pharmacy or similar field of biosciences
  • Master’s degree in the field of bioscience
  • Fluency in English

Desired:

  • Average grade of the student should be higher than 8 (both Bachelor and Master Degree)
  • Languages: Fluency in Spanish, English (professional level)

Experience and knowledge:Required:

  • At least 1 year of experience in laboratory work
  • Knowledge about the synthesis and characterization of polymers, hydrogels, nanoparticles, drug delivery, in vitro studies, cellular biology, molecular biology techniques, among others
  • Strong oral and written communication skills in English

Desired:

  • A record of previous publications, conferences and other merits will be very valuable
  • Knowledge about bioinformatic tools will be very valuable
  • We are looking for a highly motivated candidate who has a proven hands-on approach, flexible and adaptable. Additionally, the following personal skills are desirable:
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and Teamwork
  • Proactivity (ability to work independently when necessary)
  • Well-organized and responsible person at work

Main responsibilities and duties:

  • Development of a PhD thesis associated to awarded projects in hydrogels and drug delivery.
  • Synthesis, characterization and handling of different types of drug delivery materials (hydrogels and nanoparticles).
  • Analysis, writing and presentation of results.
  • Administrative and laboratory management duties.

Labour conditions:

  • Full-time position: 40h/week
  • Starting date: February 2025
  • Gross annual salary: 18.180,41 € euros (Remuneration will depend on experience and skills. Salary ranges are consistent with our Collective Agreement pay scale)
  • Contract: Open-ended contract linked to the project SmarTheC (February 2025-December 2027)
