Can strong identification harm the ingroup? Secure and defensive forms of group identification in intragroup relations and group goal-attainment

This project seeks to offer insight into consequences of different forms of identity for the ingroups themselves.

Studies are conducted in different contexts (national, party, organizational), using a variety of methods and covering a wide range of potential effects: interpersonal relations, group productivity, willingness to act for or against one’s own group, group loyalty, short- and long-term group decisions.

Requirements

Research Field Psychological sciences Education Level PhD or equivalent

Skills/Qualifications

  • Doctoral degree in psychology or related discipline, with specialization relevant to the research project (e.g., political sciences, sociology) (obtained no later than on the date of commencement of work on the project);
  • Up to date and advanced knowledge of social psychology or political science (with interest in political psychology and/or environmental psychology);
  • Advanced experience in statistical analysis (including large-scale surveys), including experience in packages such as MPlus or R;
  • Experience in publishing research in social sciences journals;
  • Experience working with multiple groups of research collaborators;
  • Experience with open science practices;
  • Experience of advancing external visibility, for example, peer review/editorial work, or conference organisation;
  • Working knowledge of English that allows to prepare publications for international journal;
  • Fluent English skills at a level that enables cooperation with an international team, preparation of publications and conference speeches in this language, documented by previous experience in this field.

Specific Requirements

  • Conducting statistical analyses of survey and experimental data (already gathered);
  • Preparing articles for publication for international journals;
  • Helping develop the potential academic and non-academic impact of this work by identifying and contacting relevant audiences;
  • Managing their own research and administrative activities, with guidance if required.

  • Scientific achievements -40% of the final grade
  • Scientific and expert competencies -30% of the final grade
  • Competences to carry out specific tasks in a research project -30% of the final grade

  • professional titles and academic degrees;
  • Information about scientific, didactic and organizational achievements (abstract comprising candidate’s most important areas of research, and scientific; educational, and other achievements);
  • List of publications (including the publishing house/journal, year of publication, and page number);
  • Cover letter;
  • Scan of a document confirming the receipt of a doctoral degree.
  • Competences to carry out specific tasks in a research project – 30% of the final grade
