  • You spend a minimum of 70% of your assignment on scientific research concerning consumer behavior in general and consumer wellbeing in particular.
  • You participate in teaching at the undergraduate and/or graduate level. You supervise and take responsibility for research methodology courses (such as market research) and/or courses on consumer behavior (such as purchasing behavior and/or marketing communication). These subjects can be taught in both Dutch and English.
  • You supervise large groups of master students in Business Engineering, Applied Economics and/or Business Economics in (Dutch-language) teaching assignments and master’s theses.
  • You are co-responsible for the development of the research group. For example, you give seminars to doctoral students, you help develop the consumer lab, you supervise doctoral students, … The specific tasks are determined in consultation with the ZAP team.
  • You will spend a significant part of your assignment on business development. In addition to working out project applications for research projects at the FWO, BOF, HORIZON and/or other funding channels, you will actively search for cooperation opportunities in which academic research can be valorized. You will take a leading role in this process.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • You hold a PhD in Applied Economics. For degrees obtained outside the European Union, a certificate of equivalence from NARIC must be submitted. The diploma requirements must be met on the start date.
  • You have already conducted research in line with the consumer behavior and consumer wellbeing research line in general, and sustainable consumption in particular.
  • You have a keen interest in student counselling in academic education.
  • You have relevant scientific publications in international scientific journals that have a wide circulation and that call on experts for the assessment of submitted manuscripts. Publications in the research domain listed in Web of Science are a must.
  • You have a promising research pipeline (e.g. publications in review at high-level scientific journals).
  • You speak and write excellent English and Dutch (in the context of teaching assignment).
  • You have experience in teaching research methodology and/or consumer behavior courses to small and large groups.
  • You have experience in supervising large groups of students in group work and workshops.
  • You have experience in supervising master’s theses.
  • You have experience with experimental consumer research and advanced quantitative research techniques. Experience with SPSS syntax and basic knowledge of R is recommended.
  • Experience in setting up and maintaining a consumer panel is a plus.

  • We offer you a temporary appointment for a period of 3 years. The appointment cannot be renewed
  • Even if you have already been appointed earlier (whether or not at another university and whether or not in the same field of discipline) in a first term of up to 3 years, you can apply. The second appointment does not have to be immediately connected to a first term
  • Your appointment will start on 16 September 2024 at the earliest
  • Your remuneration will be determined according to salary scale AAP5.
