Post-doctorant : Développement tests et modélisation Flow Assurance H/F

Company:

TotalEnergies

Job description

Context & EnvironmentTo meet its ambitious objectives of energy transition towards electricity and renewable energies, the OneTech entity of TotalEnergies gather all the technical departments providing technical support to operations and R&D (Exploration & Production, Refining & Chemistry, Marketing & Services and Gas, Renewable Energy & Electricity). With a workforce of 3,400 people, OneTech is divided into three divisions: an industrial division supporting the company’s development in gas, renewable energies, electricity and the reduction of carbon emissions; a research and development center bringing together all of TotalEnergies’ research activities to anticipate the transformation of the company, giving priority to the low-carbon mix; and a support center (HR and finance).By integrating all of the company’s technical and R&D expertise within a single entity, OneTech becomes one of the pillars of the transformation of TotalEnergies into a multi-energy company.ActivitiesWithin its R&D division, OneTech is looking for a motivated Postdoctoral Researcher to join its flow assurance teams and contribute to an innovative project aimed at industrializing the key results obtained during a recent CIFRE thesis on oil/water separation kinetics. The project focuses on optimizing separators and selecting demulsifiers to maximize the efficiency of subsea storage. The separation kinetics depend on the properties of the fluids and the use of chemical additives. For subsea separation, it is particularly crucial to accurately predict the size of the separators and select the most effective demulsifier to optimize/reduce storage. As a Postdoctoral Researcher in Flow Assurance Test Development and Modeling, the three main missions will be as follows:Industrialize the new test device:

  • Adapt the new test device to real systems encountered in production chemistry studies
  • Parallelize the system to study multiple conditions
  • Test different crude oils, water chemistries, and demulsifiers.

Fill knowledge gaps for modeling:

  • Explore the range of intermediate droplet sizes for kinetics modeling
  • Use a microfluidic approach for droplet generation
  • Verify if the efficiency of a demulsifier depends on droplet size

Conduct a numerical study:

  • Analyze experimental data collected using a simple analytical model
  • Compare theoretical predictions with experimental results obtained on real separators
  • Integrate experimental measurements into current numerical simulators

This position is based at TotalEnergies’ Lacq Research and Center (PERL) in Lacq (64) with a 18-months fixed-term Post-Doc contract under private law, renewable twice for a total duration of up to four years.Candidate ProfileYou have completed your PhD in chemical engineering, with solid knowledge of physical chemistry of interfaces. You have experience in microfluidics and/or oil/water separation studies. You are proficient in English and French. You have skills in data analysis and numerical modeling. You enjoy working independently and as part of a teamAdditional InformationTotalEnergies values diversity, promotes individual growth and offers equal opportunity careers.
