Job title:

Postdoc image-based bone mechanics

Job description

Offer DescriptionWe are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Fellow to advance our work on quantifying local bone mechanical properties using photon-counting computed tomography (PCCT).
Building on our recent findings demonstrating the superiority of PCCT in capturing bone microstructure and enhancing finite element (FE) models, you will develop methods for localized assessment of bone stiffness and strength. You will contribute to the integration of high-resolution imaging, image processing, and computational modeling to improve the prediction of bone mechanical competence. The applicant should have an excellent PhD in Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Medical Physics, or other relevant discipline. The applicant should have experience with medical image processing, and a strong background in bone biomechanics, both experimentally and computationally. Good skills in spoken and written English are mandatory. We offer a postdoctoral position at the Biomechanics Section at KU Leuven, initially for one year with the possibility of extending to two years. Salaries are highly competitive and in accordance with KU Leuven regulations.A project start in September 2025 is envisioned. Applications will be reviewed immediately until the position is filled.
