Job description
Job Description:Are you looking for an exciting project in nano-scale quantum physics with tight collaboration to molecular biology for development of new magneto-genetic tools in biology? We offer a postdoctoral position in a dynamic environment of colour centre quantum physics, with collaborators from photo- and plant-biology and -genetics.Responsibilities and qualifications
Your main duties revolve around the development of an experiment focusing on nano-scale quantum sensing applying the unique properties of nitrogen-vacancy colour centers in diamond. With this experiment, we aim at detecting molecular reactions at the single to few molecules level. For the project to develop efficiently, this requires competencies in optical and quantum physics, experience in development of experimental control hardware, and perseverance and ingenuity. This position is part of a Novo Nordisk Fonden funded interdisciplinary synergy project and you will be part of the solid state quantum sensing team at DTU Physics and DTU Health Technology. Besides the local collaborations, you will work closely together with biologists from the University of Copenhagen, Sorbonne University/France and Umeå University/Sweden, frequently visiting the partners and be responsible for the continuous dialogue.Your tasks include, but are not limited to
- Develop the experimental hardware for nano-scale quantum sensing with single NV colour centres
- Determine, design and implement suitable detection sequences for nano-scale quantum sensing
- In collaboration with local colleagues as well as those at Sorbonne University, determine and implement optimal experimental approaches for molecular scale quantum sensing
- Co-supervise and guide younger project students at the BSc, MSc and PhD level
- Maintain a thriving laboratory culture, ensuring progress and open discussion.
As a formal qualification, you must hold a PhD degree (or equivalent). We offer
DTU is a leading technical university globally recognized for the excellence of its research, education, innovation and scientific advice.
