Job title:
Postdoc in Real-time Implementation of SURE Imaging – DTU Health Tech
Company:
Danmarks Tekniske Universitet
Job description
Job Category: VIP BJob Description:A 1-year postdoc position is available at the Center for Fast Ultrasound Imaging (CFU), Department of Health Technology from 1 August 2025 sponsored by the European Research Council (ERC). It is conducted in collaboration between CFU and the MEMS group at DTU Health Tech, the University of Copenhagen, and the Copenhagen University Hospital (Rigshospitalet) in the ERC Proof of Concept Grant “Implementation of Super-resolution Ultrasound Real-time microvascular imaging using Erythrocytes” – iSURE.The iSURE project will develop the hardware and software architecture for a novel ultrasound scanner capable of performing real-time 3-D super-resolution imaging of the microcirculation in humans. The scanner is based on the methods developed in the SURE ERC synergy grant project for Super-resolution Ultrasound Real-time imaging using.Erythrocytes (SURE). The approach can non-invasively visualize the microvascular structures in the human body for vessel diameters down to 28 µm from data acquired in just 2 seconds. The results of several clinical studies will be used as a proof-of-concept, and a prototype scanner with a touch-sensitive graphical interface will be developed and tested in a hospital environment.Responsibilities and qualifications
The principle responsibility of the postdoc is to implement the real-time processing pipeline for SURE imaging and to describe the software architecture for a suitable implementation in a clinical scanner. The clinical studies are conducted in collaboration with Rigshospitalet in Copenhagen. The research is conducted in a truly multi-disciplinary environment consisting of the 4 academic partners specializing in advanced ultrasound imaging, silicon CMUT probes, animal experiments, and clinical investigations, and the main purpose is to translate the SURE method from a research idea to the clinic. The main task is to optimize the processing pipeline based on the previous work at CFU on synthetic aperture imaging data and make a real-time implementation on a high-end GPU. This is integrated in our SURE scanning and processing framework and implemented on our research scanners for pre-clinical trials and validation at the University of Copenhagen using GPU processing.Qualifications
Candidates should have a PhD degree electrical or biomedical engineering, computer science or a similar degree. The candidate must have the following qualifications:
- You are motivated by both individual and team accomplishments
- You thrive on collaboration and teamwork
- You have worked in an ultrasound laboratory with advanced research scanners
- Have worked with developing super resolution pipelines
- Have prior knowledge of super resolution imaging
- Have extensive experienced in developing software for real-time processing on a GPU
- Have a desire to advance the field and help PhD students learn
