Job title:
Postdoc in Ultrafast X-Ray Studies of Solvation Dynamics – DTU Physics
Company:
Danmarks Tekniske Universitet
Job description
Job Description:We’re seeking to hire an experienced Postdoc to work with the analysis of several high-quality XFEL X-ray scattering data sets on solvation dynamics in organic and inorganic systems in aqueous solution.Your responsibilities will be to drive the analysis of these data sets in close collaboration with our theory/simulation colleagues and to write up the solid and high-impact manuscripts resulting from this work. Together with the rest of the group, you will also participate in identifying future research directions and develop beamtime applications and experiments towards this.We offer you what we think is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic and social group situated in the 4DMAP section at DTU Physics, and in a setting where a key part of the job is for you to continue to build your career in science.Responsibilities and qualifications
As a formal qualification, you must hold a PhD degree (or equivalent) and we expect you to have a few years’ worth of preferably Postdoc experience working with large X-ray data sets in the ultrafast time domain. This should enable a running start for you to utilize our existing (python-based) in-house tools for the final data reduction and analysis of already acquired high-quality X-ray scattering data sets from ESRF, APS, EuXFEL and SwissFEL.Based on these, and in very close collaboration with our theory and simulation colleagues, your responsibilities will be to analyze the data, interpret the results and write up the scientific insights we obtain in the form of a series of robust research papers. As such, it will be a distinct advantage if you can also demonstrate a good track record of first-authored papers as well as a working knowledge of MD- and DFT-based simulation methods and approaches. Last, but certainly not least, we believe that a good work/life balance and a good social environment at work is essential for the well-being of all, so we’re looking for a person with a positive, open-minded and socially active mindset who is also self-motivated and works well in teams. We offer
