Copenhagen Business School invites applications for a vacant two-and-a-half-year postdoc on DEI in the Arab Middle East at the Department of Business Humanities and Law (BHL).
The postdoc position is a 2,5-year, full-time contract with research responsibilities, connected to the Carlsberg Foundation research project “Women’s Employment Journey in Danish Multinational Enterprises in the Arab Middle East” led by Associate Professor Claudia Eger. You should have an interest in the overall theme of the project, which is about advancing large firms’ diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) policies and practices in Saudi Arabia with a focus on women’s integration and representation in the labor force. Regarding methodological skills, experience in policy-analysis and/or qualitative research skills in conducting focus groups and elite interviews, and carrying out in-depth case studies is an advantage. About Department of Business Humanities and Law at CBS
Core research areas of the Department of Business Humanities and Law are organized into different research Units: Entrepreneurship, Ethics and Leadership; Governance, Culture and Learning; and CBS Law. Faculty within these groups have research backgrounds in all areas of law, political science, sociology, philosophy, history, anthropology, literature, theology, aesthetics, design and innovation, tourism and leisure management, cultural economics, leadership and strategy, pedagogic study, and other areas.
The position will be affiliated with the Entrepreneurship, Ethics and Leadership unit. What unites faculty is an overriding concern for the organization of the human within its multiple environments: work, nature, economy, civil association, the state, and corporation. BHL also participates in numerous interdisciplinary cross-CBS activities. In line with this concern, the postdoc should demonstrate a capacity to bridge across several of these environments and place the human at the heart of the project.
To fulfil the requirements of the position, the applicant chosen is expected to be physically present on a regular basis and actively participate in the teaching and research activities of the Department.CBS and departmental responsibilities
- Research, including responsibility for the academic development of the relevant discipline.
- Publishing, scientific communication and research-based teaching.
- Active participation in research activities, such as research seminars, workshops and conferences.
- Teaching and associated examination in CBS programs.
- Promoting CBS’s academic reputation.
- Initiating fund raising and coordinating research projects.
- Contributing to administrative responsibilities of the Department and CBS-wide tasks.
- Communicating findings to the public in general, including partners and participants in the Arab Middle East and to CBS’s stakeholders in particular, including participating in the public debate.
Qualifications
- The applicant must hold a PhD or the equivalent and should have a background in a discipline relevant to the above research project. In assessing applications, particular emphasis will be placed on research potential and relevance.
- Proven skills in at least one of the research areas of diversity studies, business ethics, legal studies and/or gender studies, including intersectional approaches to gender, social class, ethnicity, and religion.
- Regarding methodological skills, experience in conducting policy research and/or qualitative research is required.
- Practical experience of working in the area of DEI and/or in the context of the Arab Middle East, is desirable.
- Documented research track record at international level, including publications (or submissions) in recognized journals in one or more of the relevant fields.
- The applicant must be proficient in English (written and spoken) and language proficiency in Arabic is an advantage.
